The Bible, the Qur'an, and Science: The Holy Scriptures Examined in the Light of Modern Knowledge
Dr Maurice Bucaille
In his objective study of the texts, Maurice Bucaille clears away many preconceived ideas about the Old Testament, the Gospels and the Qur’an. He tries, in this collection of writings, to separate what belongs to Revelation from what is the product of error or human interpretation. His study sheds new light on the Holy Scriptures. At the end of a gripping account, he places the Believer before a point of cardinal importance: the continuity of a expression that differ in the course of time. It leads us to meditate upon those factors which, in our day, should spiritually unite — rather than divide Jews, Christians and Muslims. As a surgeon, Maurice Bucaille has often been in a situation where he was able to examine not only people’s bodies, but their souls. This is how he was struck by the existence of Muslim piety and by aspects of Islam which remain unknown to the vast majority of non-Muslims. In his search for explanations which are otherwise difficult to obtain, he learnt Arabic and studied the Qur’an, He was surprised to find statements on natural phenomena whose meaning can only be understood through modern scientific knowledge. He then turned to the question of the authenticity of the writing that constitute the Holy Scriptures of the monotheistic religions. Finally, in the case of the Bible, he proceeded to a confrontation between these writings and scientific data, The results of his research into the Judeo-Christian Revelation and the Qur’an are set out in this book.

Al-La Madhhabiyya
Shaykh Muhammad Sa’id Ramadan al-Buti
In the last century, a movement has appeared calling for the abandonment of the traditional schools of law [madhahib]. This misleading call, which scholars have termed al-la madhhabiyya, claims to be ‘following the Quran and the Sunna’ and caused much confusion amongst ordinary muslims. One of the sources of the spread of this innovation was a book written by Muhammad Sultan al-Ma‘sumi al-Khajnadi al-Makki that was translated to English and published as Should a Muslim Follow a Particular Madhhab? and The Blind Following of Madhhabs. It was in response to this book that Shaykh al-Buti first wrote his groundbreaking work, Al-La Madhhabiyya. The current edition (and English translation) includes the aftermath of various debates Shaykh al-Buti engaged in and also his replies to the likes of Shaykh Nasir al-Din al-Albani, Muhammad ‘Id `Abbasi, Mahmud Mahdi al-Istanbuli and Khayr al-Din Wanli.

The Attributes of God
Abd Al-Raḥmān ibn Al-Jawzī
Written by one of the most prolific scholars in the history of Islam, this book constitutes an important milestone in the classical Muslim discourse about the nature of God. ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Jawzi (d. 1201/597) repudiates those who claimed to be followers of Ahmad ibn Hanbal while claiming to believe in God as a corporeal entity possessing a hand, a foot, a shin, a face, and sitting on the Throne in person. By deconstructing this anthropomorphic conception of God, Ibn al-Jawzi examines their literal understanding of an assortment of Qur’anic verses and provides clarification and classification of sixty prophetic traditions. Even today, the debate over figurative interpretation and literalism rages on, making this twelfth-century work and indispensable and authoritative resource for navigating through and understanding the “ambiguous verses” from the Qur’an according to Muslim orthodoxy.

The Prophet’s Methods of Correcting People’s Mistakes
Muhammad Salih al-Munajjid
There are many teaching methods with different means and aids. Correcting mistakes is one that educationalists call the ‘remedial method’. Correcting people’s mistakes is essential if teaching people is the aim. Correcting mistakes is a divine method the Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) practiced, as some verses of the Qur’an were revealed to correct certain mistakes made by his eminent Companions. The Prophet (peace be upon him) was divinely guided in correcting people’s mistakes, so his methods are the best of all. Following the example of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is therefore the best approach if one is really keen to teach Islamic knowledge and any of the other branches of knowledge. Shaykh Muhammad Sâlih al-Munajjid describes with clear examples from the Sunnah the various methods of the Prophet for teaching people and correcting their mistakes. This book is indispensable for everyone concerned with education in general and Islamic knowledge in particular. It is an excellent reference in educational methodology.

Islam & Business
Nik Mohamed Affandi Bin Nik Yusoff
Islam offers alternative business practices and perspectives many of which are universal in nature and quite similar to conventional ones. However, there are some which are different and unique: for example, the principle of partnership and sharing of both profit and loss in Islamic lending. Islam requires a proper balance between commercialism and humanitarianism, and between profit and social responsibility. This balanced approach therefore offers a ready solution to serious current problems of profiteering, consumer exploitation, irresponsible corporate governance and environmental degradation. Islamic business practices maximise all the positive aspects of business: examples include honest business conduct, reasonable profit, fair competition, high standard of service culture, endearing business partnership and cooperation, etc. Islamic business ensures a proper balance between monetary and spiritual profit. It also strengthens economic justice and enhances business harmony. It is fascinating that a number of important business principles were introduced by Islam more than 14 centuries ago: examples include the principle of minimum wage for employees, basic consumerism principles such as the right of buyers to return purchased goods, the principle of venture capital, etc. These are some of the highlights of Islamic business practices and perspectives discussed in this book, besides discussions on many other interesting and practical features of Islamic business. ISLAM AND BUSINESS is the author's second book. His first book, ISLAM AND WEALTH, was published in 2001.

Islam the Misunderstood Religion: Second Edition
Dr. Danial Zainal Abidin
It is surprising that Islam is gaining momentum in the West amidst negative media coverage. The surge of new converts on hostile ground proves that Islam is a true religion that needs reckoning by the West. On 7th October 2002, it was reported in St. Petersburg Times that “Every year, about 20 000 people in the United States convert to Islam, according to a study conducted by the Council on American-Islamic Relations.” On 22nd February 2004, Nicholas Hellen and Christopher Morgan reported in The Sunday Times that “More than 14 000 white Britons have converted to Islam after becoming disillusioned with western values, according to the first authoritative study of the phenomenon. Some of Britain’s top landowners, celebrities and the offspring of senior Establishment figures have embraced the strict tenets of the Muslim faith.” The intention of writing this book is not to create enmity or dissension, but to convey the truth about Islam. We pray to Allah that it will benefit everybody, Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

An example of this is his Muqadimmah which has been extremely beneficial for beginners in studying naḥw.” [Bugyat al-Wu’āt fi Ṭabaqāt al-Lughawiyīn wa al-Nuḥāt 1/238] Ibn Ḥāj said, “Proof that this book is beneficial is that Allah has given it acceptance, to the extent that this has become the very first book (for beginners) that is studied prior to the commencement of reading the Qurʾān al-Aẓīm. This Muqadimmah will give you benefits and understanding in the shortest time possible.” [al-Taliqātu al-Jaliyyatu ʿalā Sharḥ al-Ājrūmiyyah, p. 43]

The Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam
Muhammad Iqbal
The Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam (1930) is Muhammad Iqbal's major philosophic work: a series of profound reflections on the perennial conflict among science, religion, and philosophy, culminating in new visions of the unity of human knowledge, of the human spirit, and of God. The Grand Saint of Singapore: The Life of Habib Nuh bin Muhammad Al-Habshi
Compiled by Muhammad Ghouse Khan Surrattee
Many from the ranks of the righteous and habaib (descendants of the Noble Prophet s.a.w.) in Singapore have passed on. They had transmitted the accounts of the saintly life of Habib Nuh for the past 140 years (at the time of printing). With many youths losing interest in Singapore's Islamic legacy, a book such as this has become an imperative. The accounts listed in this book have been transmitted from numerous sources, so the anecdotes related are among the more celebrated, or mutawatir. It is the author’s intention that these accounts of his saintly life remain for posterity. This book has been scrutinized in the light of the Shariah with the help of the Mufti of Singapore, Sayyid Isa bin Mohamed As-Semait.

Apostate
Joram Van Klaveren
APOSTATE From Christianity to Islam in times of secularisation and terror Joram van Klaveren, also called ‘the crown prince of Wilders’, was a famous critic of Islam. As a former member of the Dutch Parliament and a representative of the Party for Freedom, he submitted numerous bills related to Islam, such as those calling for the closing of mosques, for removing the Quran from parliament and for banning Islam from the Netherlands. . . In order to reinforce these thoughts and opinions, he — as a Christian — began to write a book critical of Islam. During the process of writing, however, he found an increasing number of matters that challenged his views of Islam. In this book, Joram describes his personal and theological journey and the development he has undergone. . . During this journey, questions arose such as: does God even exist? Is the God of the Quran the same as the God of the Bible? Does Islam teach people to hate disbelievers and oppress women? How did Joram’s negative view of Islam develop? What emotional and social struggles did he have to face? And where has this journey eventually led him? . . A must read for Muslims and non-Muslims alike. . . “To admit that one has been wrong is seldom easy, but to write in careful detail about one’s error, and then to document one’s painful road to truth, reveals considerable strength of character, and restores one’s confidence in human nature and in the prospects for change. " . Prof. Abdal Hakim Murad . . “Joram’s sincerity enabled him to shift his perspective, to remove the blind spot, to look at something objectively, and to really try and understand it on its own terms. This led to an extraordinary search, the result of which is the book that you are now reading. This book tells the story of an uncommon trajectory, the journey of a man from animosity to charity, from despair to hope, and from belligerence to peace.” . Shaykh Hamza Yusuf

This book is an attempt to positively say what Islam actually is - and always was - as well as what it is not.

A Tentative Guide to the Themes of the Surahs of the Qur'an
Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad
In this seminal work, the author suggests that each chapter of the Quran contains at least one distinct theme that underlies - and shows the logical connection - between every verse of that chapter. Moreover, he proposes that the chapters themselves taken together make up a deliberate and unique portrait of human beings and of the spiritual life. Finally, the author argues that the secrets to the themes are contained and shown in the hadith literature describing the spiritual rewards and effects (fada'il) of various different chapters of the Quran.

On Remembering Death
Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali
"Abdullah Ali's faithful transaltion of a section concerning the meditation of death from Ibn Rajab's famous work on yearly devotions is much needed in our culture of forgetfulness. He has chosen a work of immense value to introduce speakers of English. The Prophet, peace be upon him, said, 'Make much mention of the Destroyer of Delights' - meaning death. This is not morbid reflection but rather one that reminds us that the gift of life is fragile and fleeting, and its foremost purpose is as a preparation for the Hereafter. All things end including this world, but what is coming never ends. In remembering death as a daily practice, one is reminded to use each and every day successfully as a preparation for eternity. This wonderful work is an excellent place to start." Hamza Yusuf, President of Zaytuna College
